About R Nielsen Fine Art
I am from many places. I spent my childhood in Georgia, and my teen years in Utah. My adult years were spent living at several military assignments throughout the U.S. and England. All of these places gave me an appreciation for beauty. I love being outside. Whether I’m working in my garden or just walking through the neighborhood, I’m inspired by the trees, sunsets, storms, and skies. My travels have taken me to the coasts of Normandy, southern France, the Pacific Northwest, Kauai, Florida, and the gulf coast. I’ve hiked through the woods of north Georgia and Oregon, the canyons of Utah and Arizona, and the forests of England and Scotland. These places have all inspired me to paint what I’ve experienced there. These memories of such tranquility and beauty help me to deal with the stresses of my work as a registered nurse. The strain of my work is eased by the exercise of painting color, light, and shadow. It has brought me joy and satisfaction paint a scene from where I’ve visited, or to give a loved one a painting of a place they remember and love.
